How many language are offered at RGMS?

There are currently FOUR languages offered to students at RGMS: French, Latin, German and Spanish.  There are multiple sections and teachers for each language to make sure students are able to work language into their daily schedules no matter what core team they are on.

Does my child have to take a language at RGMS?

Seneca Valley prioritizes the skills, exposure and growth that world language classes provide and, therefore, makes language an opportunity available for all students in 7th and 8th grades. While not a requirement for graduation, most colleges require language study prior to admittance due to the many academic benefits of taking a world language. At Seneca Valley, students have the opportunity to begin to take a level one of a language starting in 7th grade and can move on to level two in 8th grade. Students may choose from French, Latin, German and Spanish.

How many times a week will each language class meet?

Each of the RGMS langauge classes are full periods every day!  The rotation special schedule from 6th grade and below is no longer in effect in 7th grade and above.

How many years of langauge does my child have to take?

When we get this question, it is mostly asked in one of two contexts: graduation from SVSD and entrance into college.

How far can my child pursue language at SVSD?

After completing one or two years at RGMS, students who choose to continue on with language in highschool can continue through the upper levels including Honors classes and AP/CHS classes as well as some elective classes. Please see the Curriculum page for more information about the upper level courses that are available.

Are there Cyber Edgenuity classes for language?

Yes.  Please see the Seneca Valley Academy of Choice's website for more information.

Are Cyber language classes directly interchangable with traditional classes?

No.  Students are highly encouraged to choose one avenue and see it through.  Please see the Curriculum page for more information.
