You're going to have a great time on our team!
Here are a few tips to help you get ready for 7th grade:
-On the first day, bring at least a binder or folder and a pencil if you can. You'll get lots of important papers and need to write things down!
-For the first two days of school, you will report to your home room. After that, when you get to school, you will report directly to your 1st period class.
-Don't worry about getting lost. Teachers will make sure you figure out where you need to go!
-You have about a week to get settled into a table at lunch. You have some time to figure out who you want to sit with! See who is in your class before lunch; you can all go to lunch together when class ends. You'll find some buddies to sit with!
-You can buy or pack your lunch. If you're buying a lunch, you need to have your parent/guardian put money in your account online (using MySchoolBucks).
-If you need to leave early, you need to give your early dismissal note to a secretary in the FRONT OFFICE. Don't give it to your 1st period teacher. (Also, go see all of your teachers for the classes you're going to miss to see what you need to turn in/complete.)
-If you miss school, your parent/guardian can upload your excuse to the Portal, or you can give your note to the attendance secretary, Mrs. Ridenour. Also, if you are able to, you should send each teacher an individual message on Teams to see what you've missed, so that you can be better prepared upon your return to school. In addition, when you return to school, go see all your teachers to check in, see what you missed/need to make up and turn in any homework, see when you can make up any missed tests, quizzes, etc.
-Make sure you know your bus number. It is listed on the Portal.
-Worried about finding your bus at the end of the day? Teachers will help you to make sure you find it.
-What is "FLEX?" Flex is right after 3rd period and is considered your "home room." This is a time for things such as: planned activities, time to read/work on homework/make-up assignments and tests, check out a book from the library, get help from teachers and receive important information.
-You will receive a locker to use. It has a combination lock on it. You'll be given your own three-digit code to open it. You can practice ahead of time with any regular combination lock. There are a lot of videos on YouTube. You can search for one, or watch this short one: https://youtu.be/N8jrVJBzYEc. Backpacks must be kept in your locker during the school day.
-Remember that phones and any "smart" devices (like an Apple watch) are not permitted during the day, and they need to be kept on silent or turned off. They must be kept in your student locker, which is locked and will keep your device(s) secure.
-During the first week of school you will receive your school laptop. Please make sure to charge it EVERY night! Having your charged computer every day is part of being a responsible and prepared student.
-If you need to use the pass during class, you will need to first ask permission, and if permission is granted, you will be asked to fill out a SmartPass. It is an electronic pass system. You will create the pass before leaving the room, and you will "stop" the pass when you return. We will go over how to use this during the first week of school.
